[7] Info Post

Last time, there ended up being 3 preview posts for the various aspects of the [6] patch. We hope to alleviate that with this sole info post for gameplay previews, song info, and perhaps some extra stuff!

LAST UPDATE: 3/3/14 - Things have been happening, just slowly, plus I keep forgetting to update. Several new chart previews are now linked and we are proud to announce that Insane Techniques is now available early as part of the Tournament of Immortals 4 Zenius-I-Vanisher contest!

TrotMania Chrystalize [6] New Songs!

A few weeks ago, we revealed some of the tracks coming to TrotMania Crusaders in the next update (By the way, a couple songs have been added since the initial posting, so check it out again!), and now it's Chrystalize's turn!

Turn off the sun, turn on the moon

We leave the sun without a fight, fade to darkness, celebrate the night

TrotMania III: Aeternum Obscurum

We have some really ambitious things planned for this edition. But to pull it off, we'll need more resources. If anyone would like to supply character artwork, music, or stepcharts for TrotMania III, feel free to contact us (primarily through ZIV or the chat room).

Show us what you got...

There is a chance that this year's Summer Sun Celebration in Los Pegasus may be a lot more memorable than ever before... for all the wrong reasons. But what does it all mean? What could possibly be going on here?

Stay tuned and find out...

Showdown: Imminent

~creamy creamy bossing~
As you are well aware, today marked the beginning of a new era for ponykind... well, the premiere of Season 4. Thankfully, we all enjoyed it (and indeed, it gave your faithful leader some cool ideas for the next version, huzzah!). But more importantly, we are getting closer to the end of Chrystalize, which means that over the next few updates (particularly the next one, which will be a 5b), there will be some surprises. Well, in particular, you got the aforementioned Ponybox stuff, but there will also be a new course. It's a course with songs so nuts that one wrong move will cost you dearly. We are also not kidding.

We plan on deploying this update on Thursday, so get ready!

Ponybox - Event #2

A scant few weeks ago, the latest album from dance artist Sim Gretina was released under the name Ponybox. A collection of mostly vocal tracks, the beats are varied and the genres even more so. Thus, it was a natural fit to promote the album here at TrotMania with a bundle of songs! The following 3 tracks will be released together as part of the event:

  • Cherry Tree (feat. Emily Jones) - An acoustic love song with an electro autotune tinge.
  • Daring Do (feat. Kathy-chan) - A track perfect for the beach with alluring vocals and a tribal style.
  • When the Bass Drops (feat. Nowacking) - A cool, straight dance beat leads this song along with its star vocal talent, feeling like a song that would make it to the radio if it were mainstream.
Look forward to them soon!

TrotMania Crusaders [6] New Songs

This upcoming patch is probably arriving around the holiday season, but we still have a fair amount of content to reveal! Take a gander past the page break.

Chrystalize: Extra Lv. 5a (Something sweet to bite)

Well, it is October 31, 2013. Some call it Halloween, some call it Nightmare Night, some call it All Hallow's Eve, some call it "Go to your Neighbour's Door Unannounced and Beg for Free Candy Day" (Too old for free candy? *SQUAWK* Never...). But there's something more important about this day in relevance to us. In particular, TrotMania I came out just 365 nights ago! (Yes, note, 365 nights. Not days)

But now, how far have we come? As of now, we have at least 221 songs and 2 full "mixes", all the work of a team of 13 contributors (now, obviously, if you want to be one, just get in touch with me or RIME and we'll hook you up. Preferably in the chat room). But anyway, today, we're going to backtrack a little; in honor of this particular milestone, the following update contains five new Lunatic charts for five songs from the aforementioned first pack! Specifically:

  • Doctor Who Theme (JAKAZiD Remix)
  • Evil Enchantress (Euro Spell Mix)
  • Luna (Dream Mode)
  • Octavia's Overture
  • Smile Smile Smile
But I know you're probably wondering, "Hey, but its Nightmare Night! Why aren't you adding that WoodenToaster song about it too?"

Well...

Chrystalize: Extra Lv. 5

Those initial reveals for the Chrystalize and Crusaders tracks in [5] withheld some info so that they could be kept a surprise until release. Well, release starts tonight, and the tracks are finally ready to show off! Spoil yourself now past the break or leave them a surprise for the release...

After an extended wait, we finally have a few more nuggets of info to bestow upon you all regarding the new patch! Check out 5 brand new songs past the page break.

TrotMania Crusaders [5] New Songs

As you probably can tell, TrotMania Crusaders has been getting a good bit of attention lately in development, especially with that mega 43-song pack in [4]. Well, that was an accumulation of a lot of content from abandoned projects plus some new material, so the chances of that large an update again are somewhere around "non-existent". That doesn't mean we are giving up; it just means there will be a more normal size for updates from here on out (I will confirm that Crusaders is still going to be the companion game for Chrystalize's sequel, at the very least). As such, for [5], there are 8 songs to be added to the Crusaders category. Read on to find out which!

Chrystalize: Extra Lv. 4

Ermahgerd! An update!

There's a reason the Crusader is freaking out on this one: this update adds over 40 songs to TrotMania Crusaders! Check out full details past the break:

I just don't know what went wrong!

(Epic Rage Time is pretty good, by the way)

I saw on Equestria Daily this morning
That news of Chrystalize Level 3 was posted, without warning

But then I saw our chat box
And the complaints of one led me into a shock

He said the download page was confusing
With doubts of whether the patches had been infusing

I talked with the man responsible for this plight
But even I was confused about this inaugural flight

After receiving a large amount of clarification
I journeyed down the path of restoration.

With what I've changed, it makes more sense
It's much better now; those are my two cents.

Chrystalize: Extra Lv. 3

Why yes, there is a reason that everything is here, though you'll have to work to find out why for a few of them...
So, we got a new update. With some new songs. And a new way of downloading it too.

The last point has been the subject of some internal confusion

jukebeat notice!

For those of you with an iOs system, here's a cool notice for you! The free app jukebeat has recently added the 29th Konami Music Pack, which contains a couple of songs you may recognize from Rhythm is Magic.

Getting the pack on day 1, I can say the charts are quite difficult but entertaining! Little Star -EXTREME- and Luv Can Save U -ADVANCED- are very fun, while Luv Can Save U -EXTREME- is an extreme test of your sight-reading and rhythms.

Packs seem on the slightly expensive side at first, costing $3.99 (+tax if applicable in your territory), but it should be noted that these 2 tracks are joined by 2 others: Twinkle Wonderland and KIRA KIRA STATION, which are both awesome tracks. In the end, the cost per track is fair, so give it a shot! If you don't know if the game is right for you, have a go at the demo tracks, hailing from classic KONAMI series like Frogger and Contra.

Several other songs from Rhythm is Magic and DanceDanceRevolution are spread throughout these packs, so give them a try if you liked them in our dancing game! Find them below the page break.

Get up! Get down! It's gonna make a sound!

Well, we had a fun weekend, didn't we?

Both TrotMania and My Little Karaoke were playable at GalaCon this past weekend, and it looked like everypony had a good time!

And yeah, there was a reason why I let them get the exclusive preview of a certain song....

Well, here it is! (Wait a second... there's something a little wrong here)

(thanks to Xsoft for the photos!)

Sunday, August 4, 2013

Well, now that it's officially over...

The secret GalaCon song was Equestria Girls (Helping Twilight Win The Crown)

Single: 1/4/6/9/12
Double: 4/5/9

Everything but the Lunatic chart (RIME) stepped by Dreamland200

Stay tuned; it will be in the Extra Lv. 3 update, a.k.a. the Equestria Girls Update (yes, there's more where that came from!)

TrotMania at Galacon

To those Europeans heading to Galacon this weekend, I have received word that their StepMania rig (conflicting reports over whether it will be SM5 or OpenITG, but I may have steered them towards SM5 for once, yay!) (Yes, its going to be SM5 and Chrystalize!) will have both TrotMania packs available for play, along with some other popular packs. But, only from 3pm to 6pm on the Sunday in the Music Room; what you lose, time-wise, you gain from getting your own room! They're also bringing My Little Karaoke for some periods in there as well.

Oh, and by the way, there will be a special preview song from a future Chrystalize update too. But why? It's because this particular song has relevance to something special that will be occuring during Galacon. But what is it? You'll have to see and find out...!

One more thing: There will also be a new boss song. I hope their soft pads can handle the kind of nightmare this will be.

Chrystalize: Extra Lv. 2

We are proud to announce the release of [Extra 2], and what a big release it is! 8 new songs out of the box, 1 re-canonized track, 1 unlocked track, and 5 tracks released in our sister mix are out as well! Of note is the crossover event with My Little Karaoke: Singing is Magic, which brought us in 3 songs for now. We also have a new Extra Stage exclusive, and it is vicious! Full details are past the page break.

Golden Notes, Golden Moves - Event #1

We here in the TrotMania crew are proud to introduce the first event for this game, a crossover with the recently released second version of My Little Karaoke: Singing is Magic! We've actually worked with them before, sharing resources for show tunes and having some users there act as beta testers, but now we actually have some more public involvement. As it stands, the current plan is for both games to bring over 3 songs from the other to enjoy in a different playstyle. The 3 that we have picked aren't being revealed just yet, so you know what that means...hint post!

Aloe Aloe (Radio Edit) / Underpony
You might figure out the title if you think about one aspect of DDR S+ DLC that was sort of odd. Something about this DLC is also related to early DLC of jubeat plus.

Explanation: plazma was one of the first licensed artists in both games. In DDR S+, a 3 pack was released along with 2 single-only tracks. (Now 5-packs could be sold at a lower price per track, so this is odd because of either weird licensing or just plain old money-grubbing) One of those 2 tracks was "Aloe Dreams", connection being Aloe.

Cerulean Blue / Replacer
I don't know...my hint-making skills lately have been hazy and misty lately, so I...have made it for you already! This one is a multi-step connection to make.

Explanation: My word choice was key here. Catch on to "Misty" and you may think of the gym leader of the early Pokemon games. What gym did she lead? Cerulean Gym! Connection of course being Cerulean in this case.

Take My Hand / Tara Strong
You know, Berry Punch, our videographer, is named Berrylicious on ZIV. Now, what was the (pony) origin of all this -licious stuff?

Explanation: Yes this one was simple, but was also deceptively easy to miss the mark on. Starter of the -licious meme was indeed Twilightlicious, but who was it again who did that? Tara Strong, which is what I really meant by origin. The one Tara Strong song we could've crossed over from the public setlist was this one.

The My Little Karaoke crew is also planning to do this event of course, but has stated that track creation is on hold until after Galacon 2013, which is August 4th. So, this event may take a while on their end, but we're proud to announce that these 3 tracks will be part of [Extra 2], which is coming *very* soon.

[UPDATE: Phase 1 of the event has now transpired on the My Little Karaoke side, with AgainSpin That Record Vinyl Scratch, Ultimate Sweetie Belle crossing over in a massive megapack! (Daring Do was also added, but it was part of the Ponybox event for both games) Expect news on Phase 2 on our side sometime soon!]

If you can't wait to find out the tracks, take a shot at guessing from these hints! Remember all 3 songs are on the My Little Karaoke tracklist currently.

TrotMania at Everfree Northwest

Alongside My Little Karaoke (which has also recently been released), a StepMania setup (On Linux with Cobalt Fluxes too!) with Chrystalize was present at the recent Everfree Northwest convention, and it looked like it was quite a hit in the game room!

Thank you to SR Foxley for the pictures!

The time has come to ... Chrystalize.

Some of you thought it was silly
Some of you thought it was a bad idea
But others thought it was a great idea
Many of you enjoyed making it
And many more are enjoying to play it
But now, it's time to make this 20% cooler.

The highly anticipated sequel to TrotMania: Rhythm is Magic, the MLP-themed simfile pack (which not even I expected would become that well-received) is FINALLY here! I must admit, my vision for the project was blurred due to the contributions of a certain person (No offense, but it was this same person who really helped me get off the ground, plus he actually did agree with me about this), so my #1 goal for Chrystalize was to ensure it stayed within the scope of songs from the series, plus remixes and original songs by its fans (AND A LOT MORE TRIXIE TOO.).

And well, that's a goal we met! Now, just so you're aware, what we are releasing tonight is the base pack, which I'm calling "Extra Lv. 0" (totally ripped that idea from GF/DM). We got 30 songs to start, plus one designated Extra Stage song (If you want to access it "properly", enable Hidden Songs and Extra Stage, and disable Event Mode).

Now, there will, of course, be more where that came from! Every 2 to 3 weeks, we will release an update to add a few more songs to the pack. Every other update will add boss songs. You're okay with this, right?

So, what are you waiting for? Go to the Downloads page now, get your hooves all polished up, upgrade to StepMania 5 Beta 2, unzip the two ZIP files (simfiles and theme) into their respective locations, and get ready to trot! The full base songlist is after the break...

Also, Happy Canada Day, everyone!

Rhythm is Magic is Done!

What a great 8 months the game has had. With 8 patches, and ending up with 89 songs, this package sure ended up meaty. It's been great to have the opportunity to bring show songs, PMV songs, originals, and even crossovers from other BEMANI titles into this, and we celebrate the end with the final patch, 1.80. This one has 3 specific themes, culminating into a final single track.

The first group is the Enhance Trio. We brought back Queen and Coldplay, artists available at launch, and released tracks from them older and newer respectively compared to the launch tracks. Daft Punk's track, on the other hand, is an enhancement of the Sweetie Belle theme of patch 1.70, which, as you may remember, had a bit of a setback with a lost track.
The second group is the Rock Trio. A bonus theme here is that each song is a different type. The license is Lay Down, which received its fame from Guitar Hero 3. The BEMANI crossover is Friendship, hailing from jubeat copious. The original is Daddy Discord, and it is a vicious boss track!
The final group is the Tricoro Trio. All songs hail from Beatmania IIDX 20: Tricoro and all contain highly difficult charts. 405nm (Ryu Mix) is the easiest, with a level 16 as its Lunatic and standard difficulties otherwise. LUV CAN SAVE U is easy on all difficulties aside from Stallion, where it has a 17. Little Star is difficult all around, with a Stallion leveled 17.
The final single is D.A.N.C.E. by Justice. What better way to send the game off than to appeal to its core: dancing? This track has appeared in previous DDRs, but it has a new cut here along with an awesome PMV! I do believe we gave it great treatment, and we hope you enjoy this final package!

Remember, the link for download instructions is here, and the post below has the preview for our upcoming sequel, TrotMania Chrystalize!

Chrystalize Preview Pack!

I had a few requests for one to be made, so I thought; "you've waited long enough. Let's do it."

TrotMania Chrystalize Preview Pack A. With five great songs

  • B.B.B.F.F. (Fire of Friendship Remix)
  • Flutterborn
  • Hush Now Quiet Now (TranceBlossom Remix)
  • Mirai Start!
  • Trixie's Good Side

I did this on a whim without consulting anything but my "what songs are going to be in the initial release?" list. If you have any questions/comments/critiques, feel free to share them. Also note, that on the final release, Mirai Start will have a video. Don't worry.

The Tradeoff

One of the songs promoted in the 1.70 teaser is now unable to be released. It was confirmed under the assumption that DanceDanceRevolution Dance Wars' simfiles would be available in the near future. As they are not, we are unable to have 4 of the 5 difficulties and we have copious sync issues with the song. Be assured that we have tried to find a solution, but none rises to the quality standards we have for the game.

(By the way, I'm still not revealing what it was directly. Sound off in the comments to guess, and know that you only have 18 songs to pick from, essentially!)

However, as the title suggests, good is coming in place of the bad. There was a bonus 9th song to be released to finish off the 1.70. Due to this issue, we've decided to release it early!

Ultimate Sweetie Belle has been a popular request since its release, and it has finally come to the game to cap off the Sweetie Belle (former) trio! While it isn't very difficult, what difficulty it has is mainly concentrated on the Sweetie Belle samples, and it makes for an interesting chart.

Let us know what you think of this turn of events in the comments!

1.70 Teaser #3

Congratulations to Jukebeat on its 50th pack! As a celebration, we here at the TrotMania team are bringing you 3 tracks from the original series, jubeat. Here are the details:

-Track #1 is Green Green Dance and is available now! Originating in jubeat knit and making it to jukebeat in KONAMI Music Pack 14, this frolicking tune is fast-paced and features a variety of solos along with minstrel-like melodies.

-Track#2 is Baby Bleep March and is available now! This hyper track fits so perfectly with the chaos the Cake twins wreak on Pinkie Pie initially, and the steps are a definite challenge! If you've been following recent developments with jukebeat and jubeat plus content, you'd know that what was (in Japan) saucer pack 02 corresponds to KONAMI Music Pack 26 in the US. However since saucer pack 01's song DIAVOLO got pushed to pack 26, one of the corresponding tracks (this one) got pushed out. Let's hope it's in 27!

-Track #3 is Flip Flap and is available now! Originating in Reflec Beat limelight, the track was crossed over to jubeat saucer at the beginning of May, so it is quite fresh to the series. While it doesn't have the raw speed that its relatives smooooch and Wuv U have, it still has plenty of difficulty due to its triplet timing.

1.70 Teaser #2

It's that time again! Part 1 of the update is taking longer than expected for various reasons, so we're going ahead with part 2. Here are the hints for the 2 tracks:

[ALL USED UP]

Revealed
(Relevant hints: Revocaloidization (Rolling Girl), Silhouette (Fluttershy))

(Relevant hints: Silhouette (DJ PON3), Think Math (PON3 = PON * 3 = PON & PON & PON), DDR 2013 Artist (Tsukematsukeru [cover]))

Sound off in the comments if you think you got it, and we may confirm or deconfirm your guess!

Chrystalize Preview: Flutterwonder

Flutterwonder is a track from 2011, created by former big artist PinkiePieSwear. An awesome dance-trance mix of So Many Wonders, the artist's penchant for beats really shows. PinkiePieSwear was also featured last game with Art of the Dress (Always Stressed Mix) and as the composer of Pony Swag.

[Trance] - Flutterwonder - PinkiePieSwear
Stepped by RIME and Dreamland200S
Lv. 3 / Lv. 5 / Lv. 8 / Lv. 10

Chrystalize Preview: Pinkie's Lie

An older track featured in the game (though what is old when the fandom's only been around since 2010?...), Pinkie's Lie is another track by WoodenToaster, who has been previously featured with Beyond Her Garden in TrotMania. Unlike that track, this one is built on sampling/covering, with the main song being Giggle at the Ghostie. However, it has a great beat, along with some devious triplets throughout, which are being advantage of for the charts!

Special note is that the PMV for this one was lost in the internet for a while, with the only existing copies on Youtube having some nasty artifacts. Striving to give you guys the best, we managed to obtain a source copy, for which we have also the cut found in-game to YouTube as a bonus preview! Check it out here.

In addition, Zenius-I-Vanisher is hosting a Tournament of Immortals 3, and I'm a contestant. Connect the dots...

[Electro-House] Pinkie's Lie - WoodenToaster

1.70 Teaser!

Yes, those images are hints. To help, lemme just debunk a few songs that could be answers:

Image 1
Gold Dust / DJ Fresh
Gold / Spandau Ballet
[Anything relating to bling]
[Anything hiphop for that matter]

Image 2
Irony / ClariS
Ironic / Alanis Morissette

Image 3
Howlin' for You / Black Keyes
[Anything by Michelle Creber]

Sound off in the comments if you think you know the tracks! Who knows, we might just confirm the track.

Chrystalize Preview: Eurobeat Brony

Well, there was one thing that was actually true in that April Fool's Day post, and it's the fact that yes, Call Upon the Seaponies (EuroSHOOBEDOO Mix) has been added to the actual song list.

(Though, the most blatant giveaway of that was the fact that this song came out in 2012, yet we claimed this Infinite Heart pack was released in 2009. Whoops)

Though, this isn't the only Eurobeat Brony track we got on the song list for Chrystalize...!

[SHOOBEDOO] Call Upon the Seaponies (EuroSHOOBEDOO Mix) - Eurobeat Brony
Stepped by Blinded_No_More
[???]

[EUROBEAT] The Flim Flam Brothers (Locomotion Mix feat. Rina) - Eurobeat Brony
Stepped by Blinded_No_More
Lv. 3 / Lv. 6 / Lv. 9 / Lv. 12

tl;dr Chrystalize vs. Infinite Heart is fake. Seaponies, however, aren't.

Chrystalize Preview: A New Twist

We had a lot of criticism surrounding how the next TrotMania edition was being developed; but the most common complaint we that we, as a group, have changed the game way too much since the beginning of the series, and that we're too biased towards newer material...

With this in mind, I'd like to unveil something else that will be a part of the new version; it will not just be TrotMania Chrystalize: it will be TrotMania Chrystalize VS. Infinite HEART!

Infinite HEART was one of our first versions, released back in 2009, and by popular demand, we have incorporated a full, remastered remake of it playable right from within Chrystalize! See, it was released at a weird time; there wasn't your fancy-pants "Friendship is Magic" or your "G4" yet; Rarity was more prissy, Rainbow Dash always dressed in style, Pinkie Pie was more girly and less of a fourth wall breaker (but still liked parties), Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo actually had their cutie marks (and Cheerilee was the latter's mom!), Spike was a dragon, and there were ERMAGAHD SEAPONEZ!!!!

Re-live this excellent period in pony history with the all new Infinite HEART MODE; you will be able to access it in the final version of Chrystalize straight from the mode menu!

To refresh your memory, here's just some of the great songs you're going to see in :
  • Call Upon the Seaponies
  • Call Upon the Seaponies (EuroSHOOBEDOO Mix)
  • I Just Wanna Have Fun
  • That's What Makes a Friend
  • The Jamboree of Ladybugs
  • MLP Theme (G2)
  • MLP Theme (G3.5)
  • Who's a Silly Pony?
We also re-did the song artwork to be more relevant to today's generation as well, mainly because we forgot where we stored our original source files, and because we needed to make jackets too (StepMania 3.9 Plus couldn't do that, you know)

And, can you unlock the secret, hard new boss song that will also be hidden in Infinite HEART MODE? We'll see and find out.

Its so awesome that it'll leave you saying, "Betcha can't make a face crazier than ...... THIS!!"
